Hello, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and higher expectations. Everyday tasks felt tougher than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural surprise, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines settled in. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Mellow Sand Studio
Most online advice was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
